Each year, Athens-Clarke
County and the Community
Tree Council provide local
neighborhoods with an opportunity
to review the
health, composition, and
management needs of their
trees. These groups work
with neighborhood residents
to improve the quality of the
neighborhood forest througheducation, planting, and
long-term planning.
Please contact the Community
Forester if you wish to
have a Neighborhood Forest
Assessment done in your
area. Candidate neighborhoods
are areas that have
not had an assessment done
in the last ten years and areable to provide at least a
20% participation rate from
local households. At least
one volunteer is needed from
the neighborhood to serve as
a liaison for the project.
Boulevard, Cobbham, and
the Five Points neighborhoods
have all been recently
completed.
