Friend of Trees Award 2008 Beginning in 1997 the Urban Tree Advisory Committee, followed by the Community Tree Council, has presented the Friend of Trees Award to persons or organizations that exemplify good stewardship of trees in Athens-Clarke County. Selection of recipients is based on the use and/or preservation of trees in unique ways that enhance property aesthetics and/or demonstrate protection and concern for the environment. Since 1997, 35 awards have been presented. The Community Tree Council is pleased to present the 2008 Friend of Trees Award to Tony Eubanks. | |
| This year the CTC is proud to be able to honor Tony Eubanks who almost single-handedly organized a large replanting of 30 dogwood trees along Prince Avenue in February 2008. |
| Tony raised over $4000 and organized an army of over fifty volunteers to pull off this project. The results will bring pleasure to Athens for generations to come. |
