Notes: A small tree with wide range, the white poplar has a very white cast to it as shown in the leaf-off picture presented here. As shown, it has multiple stems and will propagate profusely through root sprouts. While the species can be quite spectacular, it is not favored for a landscape tree in general because of its sprouting characteristics and susceptibility to many diseases and insect pests.

Bark: Smooth and whitish above and often thick and dark at the base as pictured.
